How does eating all the fruits affect diabetes?  Will the sugar in fruit be a deal-killer for someone with diabetes?

Thanks for writing.  People with diabetes need to be very careful with fruit, as fructose can greatly spike blood sugar levels.  For diabetics, it is best to consume lower-glycemic fruits like grapefruit, strawberries, cherries and apples, or other fruits (like blueberries) in smoothies where you can add high fiber like ground flaxseeds to slow down absorption.  I always recommend consuming fruits and vegetables in a daily ratio of 3:1, i.e. 9 servings of vegetables to 3 servings of fruit, and never juiced fruits. Hope that is helpful.
