YES, You Can REALLY Prevent Cancer With A Plant-Based Diet!!!

Can you prevent cancer with a cancer prevention diet? Science says....

1. Vegetables (organic; raw or frozen) such as broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, artichokes, dark green leafy vegetables (kale, Swiss chard, collards, etc.), cabbage, brussel sprouts and onions should be eaten daily, at least 2 cups. Research has shown these are excellent sources of fiber and antioxidants which can inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells including breast, skin, lung and stomach cancer cells. They also support the immune system. Be sure to include plenty of garlic.

Fruits (organic; raw or frozen) especially berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries), apples (skin on), citrus fruits, mangos or apricots, pomegranates are excellent sources of vitamin A, vitamin C and good sources of fiber which are an excellent support to the immune system. Eat at least 2 to 3 pieces daily or include in a smoothie.

3. Whole grains are rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Many contain Omega-3 fatty acids which inhibits the growth of colon cancer cells and helps reduce inflammation. Be sure to include brown rice, fresh ground flax seeds, steel cut oats for oatmeal, quinoa, wild rice, organic corn, millet and amaranth. Avoid grains with gluten, i.e., wheat, barley and rye.

4. Legumes, a.k.a., beans, beans, beans. “Scientists… found that beans actually contain an anti-cancer compound that blocks an enzyme involved in tumor growth.*” They are also a good source of B-vitamins. Lentils, black beans, split peas, lima beans, kidney beans, pinto, chick peas, navy beans and black-eyed peas should be eaten at least twice a week.

There are numerous studies that document how a plant-based diet or cancer- prevention diet can increase your chances of preventing cancer. Merge into a plant-based eating lifestlye by eating as many raw fruits and vegetables as possible. Replace coffee and a donut for breakfast with fresh fruit or oatmeal. Include a mixed garden salad with lunch and dinner. Minimize your intake of processed foods.
