Following is a summary of my experience. I hope it can be of use to you!

In 1994, following two years of (what ultimately turned out to be unsuccessful) treatment in what is purportedly the country’s leading cancer hospital, Mem’l. Sloan Kettering, my husband, (Dr. S.) Bruce K., was told by his oncologist, “I’m afraid there isn’t anything more we can do!” His quick reply, “So, am I supposed to buy a rocking chair?!” was not well received. He was 46 years old. I went straight home, and made a call to one Susan Silberstein; her name had been given to me by a friend, who had “heard about her”! What followed was extraordinary.

Ms. Silberstein insisted on a three-way conversation – including my husband (the patient), as well as myself (resident caregiver). She gave us carefully researched information about people who she thought might help us with ‘alternative’ treatment(s). We dutifully took notes, admitting to a bit of discomfort: we were both, up until that morning, firm believers in traditional medicine! But after much discussion, Bruce called a couple of the options: a biochemist and a psychologist. The help these individuals gave my husband was so remarkable, it is impossible to adequately describe.

My husband lived a longer and infinitely fuller life because of the help he received from Ms. Silberstein. He and I often remarked about the serendipitousness of the initial contact; it was one of life’s ‘right place/right time’ scenarios. His life was extended, due directly to her personal research and homework! Had she not provided us with the information she had
assiduously collected – and carefully checked out! – his life surely would have been shortened immeasurably.

I shall be eternally grateful for what Ms. Silberstein did for us. Thanks to her dedication and diligence, we were able to enjoy a normal, happy life together! In fact, because of his progress during this period, we were able to move to Southeast Asia, where my husband built and opened a new office for his firm!

Please feel free to use any/all/none of the above, as you would like. If you would like me to, I would be happy to talk with anyone, on your behalf. CACE is a treasure; the need for its/your services will only grow!

Thanks for the chance to formally thank you!!!

Best to all,
Patricia K.
